Eclipse
500 certified
The
Eclipse 500 light-jet has now received full certification from the US
aviation authorities. The operating scope includes night- and IFR
flights as well as the RVSM group certification. All that is missing
is permission for flights in conditions of known-icing, but this is
due to follow in March.
Jet
Aviation expands
In
the next 18 months Jet Aviation will expand rapidly at the EuroAirport
Basel. The company will not only be investing 34 million Swiss Francs
in new hangars, workshops and expansion of the apron but is also
planning on creating 400 new jobs. On average Basel handles 60
business jets are per day.
NetJets
buys 24 Falcon 7X
NetJets
has purchased 24 examples of the new Dassault Falcon 7X. The
three-engined aircraft will be delivered from the beginning of 2008.
The contract has a total value of 1.1 million Dollar and is the
largest contract ever to be awarded in Europe for business jets.
Challenger
604 production halted
The
last Challenger 604 has left the Bombardier factory in Montreal.
Production of the spacious business jet ended with the serial number
5665. The Challenger 604 is one of
the most popular business jets with 365 machines having been
built. This long-distance jet made its maiden flight on 18th
September 1994. The successor is called Challenger 605.
DHC
Twin Otter production recommences
The
new licence owner, Canadian Viking Air Limited, wants to make detailed
improvements to the DHC Twin Otter. Using composite materials will
reduce the weight, and the PT6A-34-turbines from Canada's Pratt and
Whitney, restricted to 620 WPS each,
should improve both the climb rate and efficiency. The aircraft
is to be fitted with a glass cockpit, but the type is as yet unknown.
The price: 3.2 million Dollars.
IFR
for Mengen?
The
Mengen-Hohentengen
airfield
is possibly getting class F air space, to enable business flights to
land under instrument flight rules. The hearing will continue until
the end of October at the Tübingen regional
government offices.
