FM 250: Newcomer from Czech
Republic
The FM 250 composite low-winger from the Czech
manufacturer Flying Machines should be airborne in Germany from 2007.
The manufacturer's specifications look very promising: a climb rate of
7 m/s, a cruising speed about 200 km/h and a VNE
of 270 km/h. According to the importer, Cycloon Holland from Venlo,
the carbon fibre aircraft will have an empty weight of 250 kg without
an emergency rescue system. The choice of engines will include the
Rotax 912, 912S and the turbo charged 914.
Austria gives green light
UL pilots from Germany will continue to be
allowed to fly into the republic with their licence and D-registered
Uls as long they are carrying an ELT and the aircraft is insured in
accordance with Austrian regulations. Transport minister and Vice
Chancellor Hubert Gorbach extended the order by another year to the 1st
September 2007.
Radio only with certification
It seems that from January 1st
2007 Uls with three-axis control will only be allowed to fly in
controlled airspace with certified radios. Flight with units that are
not certiifed for use as airborne radio stations will no longer be
permitted.
Eurofox can
tow gliders
The ultralight Eurofox is now allowed to tow
gliders up to 750 kilograms take-off weight. The DAeC aviation sport
office has issued the shoulder-wing aircraft with supplementary type
certification.
