Women’s gliding has become an established airsport in Germany. Every two years, German championships for women are held in the Race, Standard, and Club Classes. For the past 18 years, the best female pilots of these championships have qualified for the national team. Also, the teams that participate in the European championships are made up of the national team members.

Get to know the pilots! They are being presented with  their aviation and championship careers. In their private lives, they often hold their own in demanding jobs. Others are successful in combining the demands of a family life and their flying ambitions. Many of the female pilots are also engaged in their clubs as instructors.
The German national team of female glider pilots has the following 12 members since the German championships of the women 1996 in Hirzenhain: Christiane Casper, Swaantje Geyer, Gundula Goeke, Gudrun Haas, Gaby Haberkern, Annette Klossok, Sue KussbachAngelika Machinek, Ingrid Mayer, Conny Schaich, Katrin Senne, Heike Specowius, Sylva Stampke, Maren Thomas, Kathrin Wötzel.
As European Champion Gisela Weinreich will be member of the German team at the next European Gliding Championships for women in Poland.
